Built with a 1-inch (2.5cm) thick wall reinforced with Kevlar®, the Lithium Safety Store™ offers exceptional blast protection and resistance to fires exceeding 2000°F (1100°C). Its UL-94 V-O insulated core effectively contains heat, while the high-gloss fiberglass or carbon-fiber exterior provides both durability and a sleek, elegant finish suitable for any yacht.

Kevlar® armoured inner

Kevlar® is a lightweight yet incredibly strong material, offering five times the strength of steel. Its exceptional durability and heat resistance make it ideal for containing explosions caused by lithium batteries, gas, and flammable liquids. The Lithium Safety Store™ is engineered for safe handling, even in the event of an internal fire reaching temperatures above 1000°C. Its advanced heat-blocking construction ensures that the exterior remains at a manageable temperature, typically around 70°C, allowing it to be moved safely while wearing standard protective gear. This enables controlled relocation to an open area or, if necessary, safe disposal overboard.

Engineered for efficient storage, these units are designed to stack securely. Each features four marine-grade, non-slip rubber feet that interlock with recessed slots on the lid of the unit below. Equipped with either two or four large side handles (depending on the model chosen) for easy lifting, they also double as robust tie-down points, ensuring added stability and security.

In the event of a fire onboard, the Lithium Safety Store™ provides critical protection. Follow these steps to minimize damage and safeguard your vessel.

1. Immediate Fire Alert Protocol
Upon detection of a fire, you and your crew will receive instant alerts via email and SMS, detailing:

  • The time of the fire's onset
  • The internal temperature of the Lithium Safety Store™
  • Vessel information, including name, location, maximum passengers and crew
  • Port address, telephone number, and berth details
  • Emergency contact information for quick reference

2. Local Alert Systems
Use the built-in visual and audible alarms along with smoke from the side vents to identify which Lithium Safety Store™ unit has an active fire.

3. At-Sea Protocol
If onboard, initiate your vessel's fire and muster procedures, prioritizing crew and passenger safety.

4. Critical Reminder
Never open the Lithium Safety Store™ while a fire is active.

5. Disengage Power Sources
Immediately turn off and unplug any charging devices connected to the unit.

6. Temperature & Visibility Check
Monitor the unit using the infrared temperature gun to assess fire progression. A rise in temperature and continued smoke from vents confirms active fire conditions.

7. Safe Relocation
If feasible, using protective gloves or a cloth, move the Lithium Safety Store™ to an open, level area. Avoid tight stairways or confined spaces during transport.

8. Immediate Water Response
If a water source is available:

  • Connect a hose to the inlet port and begin flooding the unit.
  • If already connected, activate the water supply.
  • Once water flows from the gas vents, reduce pressure but maintain a steady trickle to ensure continuous outflow and containment.

9. Alternative Action Without Water
If water is unavailable and conditions permit, the captain may choose to jettison the Lithium Safety Store™ overboard. This should be done carefully and ideally by two crew members.

10. Monitor & Document

  • Check the unit's temperature every 5 minutes to track fire progression.
  • Document temperature changes to gauge whether the fire is stabilizing or intensifying.

11. Post-Incident Protocol

  • Once the temperature drops below 30°C, continue monitoring for a minimum of 3 hours, checking every 5–10 minutes.
  • Keep the Lithium Safety Store™ sealed until safely docked.
  • Upon reaching port, dispose of the unit as per hazardous material guidelines.
  • If required for insurance documentation, position yourself to the side or rear of the unit, shield your eyes and mouth from potential fumes, and open it cautiously before discarding.

Potential customers are advised that, to fully comply with the entire guidelines, onboard storage should occur in spaces that comply with the REG Yacht Code Part A requirements. Our containment device is designed to be a critical part of a comprehensive safety strategy for lithium-ion battery storage. Communications Module

Connects the Lithium Safety Store to the 24/7 Emergency Response Centre (ERC). One CM50 can connect up to 50 Safety Stores to the ERC. For larger yachts and marina lithiu, storage installations we recommend adding a CM50 communications module for every 5-10 Safety Stores. With more than one Safety Store we always recommend to use at least two communications modules to work in tandem to give an extra layer of redundancy/back-up.
